Know someone who should be on the list?

If you know someone who should be on this list – or if you’d like to be added yourself – then please use our contact form* or tweet @ComputerRecruit or @steviephil.

If you’re nominating yourself, please send across links to your website and Twitter & LinkedIn profiles; a pic to use (ideally one of you speaking, otherwise a head-shot) that’s at least 300 px wide/tall; what topics are most applicable to you and your work; and the names of any tech events you’ve spoken at previously (if applicable).

The criteria are:

  • Women a) who work in tech/digital, b) are based in South Wales presently, and c) who like doing speaking gigs (i.e. they would be happy to be contacted by event organisers about speaking at their event).
  • They don’t necessarily have to have a history of public speaking. We’re happy to include anyone who’s new to public speaking or looking to get into it – so don’t let it put you off if you’d like to be included but haven’t ever done a public speaking gig before.
  • We’re getting people’s permission/blessing before adding them to the list (rather than just adding them without their knowledge or consent) – so if you’re suggesting someone, please bear in mind that we’ll then have to contact them in order to discuss it with them (so if you have some contact info for them as well then that’d be appreciated).

* We’ll added a dedicated form to this page in the future.

The inspiration for publishing this list

There’s two main reasons:

  1. Often when challenged on male-dominated speaker lineups, some event organisers will state that they simply don’t know many women speakers working in IT/digital/tech. With this list, we’re hoping that there’s no excuse in the future… 😉
  2. We haven’t published our findings yet (we’ll update this post with a link when we have done), but we’ve conducted an analysis of the gender balance of speaker lineups of tech meetups in 2017 and it’s sadly far from 50/50… If this list helps to improve the balance from 2018 and beyond then that’d be great to see.
